CERTIFICATION OF ISPM- 15

CERTIFICATION OF ISPM- 15

Sometimes wood packaging material has been a channel for the introduction and diffusion of harmful organisms. It was therefore necessary to reduce the risk of possible infestations by introducing some phytosanitary measures to avoid possible economic and environmental impacts on world forest heritage. Treatment prior to shipment is the plant protection measure identified by IPPC and is the basis on which the International Standard ISPM-15 is based. In brief, this Standard stipulates that raw wood packaging should be treated (heat treatment - HT) and subsequently certified under the IPPC / FAO trademark. This brand must be checked through a certification system for companies in the wood packaging and treatment chain.

SPIL SRL has since 2006 adopted this chain and certification system to export to any EXTRA EU country any type of packaging. The ISPM-15 ISPM-15 of the FAO has been signed by more than 120 WTO members, namely that the States agree with the content of the Standard itself but it is not said that they have already introduced it into their national regulations and apply it.

WARNING: For INTRA-EU circulation (between countries marked with an asterisk * in the table below), the use of packaging labelled and processed according to the ISPM standard no. 15, excluding those coming from Portugal.
